Midsummer Ferry Rides

We were told that Stockholm would completely empty out, on Midsummer. So, we were very pleased to receive an invitation to spend the day at a friends house in the Archipelago. It looked like we could take a bus or a ferry to get there. The ferry sounded fun and it turned out to be a great, and popular, choice. When we arrived at the launch site, there must have been at least twenty ferries waiting. These all filled up for the time we were leaving, and this was to continue throughout the day. Everyone was carrying bags filled with flowers, drinks, bathing suits and picnic blankets. We rode for about an hour and a half and traveled just over 28 miles.
I thought that this was an excellent way to get out of the city, for the day. There was a cafe serving fika, and the views were just amazing. We passed at least one castle, a light house and a really great fountain.
The ferry called in at several docks, along the way, making this a very easy to use transport to summer homes throughout the archipelago. At one point, we were in a caravan of four or five ferries, in a row. And we arrived at our destination, I watched several of our fellow passengers get picked up by other smaller boats, to continue on their journeys.
We chose to ride the bus back into town. But I saw these helpful instructions, if we had been traveling back by ferry, at night.
