Danish Manhole Covers, and bicycles

I desperately wanted to take a night train to Copenhagen, and we were all set to book. But Lily and I got Covid. It was quite an ordeal to cancel our tickets and rebook. And since it was summer, all the night trains were full. But we got seats on a day train to Malmö and then on to Copenhagen, so all was not lost.

Everything you've heard about Copenhagen and bicycling is true! Every single time we looked up directions, it was fastest to go by bike. I was surprised that, though the public transit system was good, it was not as easy to use as Stockholm's. Copenhagen really does focus on making it easy to go by bike.

We also found a whole new set of amazing manhole covers!

But the manhole cover that was perhaps most exciting was a special one. We knew that the Tour de France started in Copenhagen this year. But we didn't know that there would still be remnants of that celebration, when we visited the city, a few weeks after. Teddy and I joined an architectural bicycle tour that started in the city center. As we were rolling through, Teddy spotted this commemorative man hole cover. We couldn't stop to take a picture in the midst of our tour. But we found it after, and I just love it so much!
